BEN AND MURIEL

Our Big Day

24 . August . 2024

Our Wedding

Windy Point Camground

Our wedding will be taking place at Windy Point Campground on beautiful Lake Dillon in Dillon, Colorado. The ceremony will start at 12 PM, with a reception to follow. The wedding will be entirely outdoors, so please plan to dress accordingly. Stuffy dress codes are just not the Colorado way, but we do recommend wearing or bringing layers since the weather can change on a dime in high alpine environments.

About Summit County Colorado

There are a few things visitors should keep in mind when visiting Summit County for the first time. Summit County is located at almost 10,000 ft of elevation, which means there is less oxygen in our atmosphere. Exposure to this altitude without proper acclimation can lead to altitude sickness. There are preventative measures you can take that will help to an extent, and plenty of oxygen tank rentals and various oxygen therapies you can explore when you arrive in the county.

The Forecast

Historic August average temperatures for our county is a high of 72 degrees Fahrenheit, and a low of 37 degrees. That doesn’t seem that hot, especially for our friends and family hailing from the South, but the sun is extremely strong at this altitude. Please remember your sun protection and remember staying hydrated is very important while staying in our dry climate. The summer weather is notoriously unpredictable, but our rain showers are usually gusty and short lived. We generally don’t leave the house without our packable rain jackets from June to August.

Where to Stay

There is no shortage of vacation rentals in Summit County. We recommend looking for lodging in any of these towns: Dillon, Silverthorne, Frisco, Breckenridge or Keystone. The best way to get around the county, and to get to and from the wedding venue is to rent a car. If renting a car is not your jam, there are plenty of airport shuttles you can take from DIA. We’ve used Epic Mountain Express and Pegasus and recommend both services. If you will not be renting a car, please reach out to Ben or Muriel to get help coordinating a ride to the venue on the wedding day. We’d also probably recommend staying in one of the more pedestrian friendly towns like Frisco or Breckenridge where you can very easily utilize the county’s free bus service.
